In Connecting Children with History through Fiction, Gillian talks about how to engage children and young people in history through fun, storytelling, and a little toilet humour. Using Michael Foreman’s War Boy as an example, Gillian relates stories of evacuation that will pique the interest of young minds.

Gillian Polding is a Chartered Librarian, and Member of the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals. Gillian began her career working in a research library and has since worked in the public library sector in senior management roles, School Library Services and several years at the University of Hertfordshire as Operational Support Manager. She is currently Area Manager for Children and Young People for Buckinghamshire Libraries.
Gillian is passionate about instilling in children a love of books and supporting all ages , children and adults alike, to achieve the best life outcomes by encouraging lifelong learning and information retrieval skills.
