Sarah Charlton

Sarah Charlton history festival speaker

Sarah Charlton is an Archivist based in Buckinghamshire; for over twenty years she was part of the team at Buckinghamshire Archives.  More recently she has worked with the archives of Bekonscot Model Village, the Carington Estate and Stowe House Preservation Trust.

In her video and presentation, Sarah takes us through the recently catalogued scrapbook , compiled by Charles Wynn- Carington, 3rd Lord Carrington 1843-1928.

Compiled throughout the 19th century, it’s a fascinating insight to life in High Wycombe through the eyes of the wealthy Carington family. In a talk which is very much an insight into the works of an archivist, as well as a record of life in Victorian Buckinghamshire, Sarah displays carefully preserved pages that tell of local political struggles, a close friendship with royalty, and even the well-respected Lord Carrington’s gentle brush with the law…
